What is Flow?
A large part of our brand Pacific Flow’s identity is built around the word Flow, but what is flow?
For us, flow is that moment that feels good when you’re doing what you love. It’s that moment when you’re doing a turn surfing or carving on a skateboard. It’s when you’re leaning into a huge powder turn on a snowboard or hanging ten on your log. The moment seems surreal, it doesn’t always last long, but it’s the reason so many of us pursue the things we love.
More specifically Flow is the moment during an activity when pre-planned precision takes over from your thought process and time seems to slow down. For just a few blissful seconds your mind turns off and you become totally immersed in the moment. The past, the future and all your thoughts disappear and for the smallest amount of time, you are just experiencing existence instead of being caught up in thought, flow is living in the moment.
Flow can happen while surfing, skating, biking or doing any activity that you love, and we all try to achieve it because it feels good. As humans we pursue activity’s that make us feel good because we all want that feeling. Flow can come more easily in some pursuits such as biking downhill, or can be nearly impossible to achieve in others such as surfing where thousands of hours of effort are required to become skilled enough to experience Flow.
Flow is something we all experience in life and we decided to try to make our clothing range with that idea in mind. Since Flow is about that moment that feels good, we decided to try and make the most comfortable clothing we could, so that every moment you’re wearing them you feel good and in some little way you experiencing flow.
Everybody has flow, but not everybody knows where to find it. Have you found yours yet?
